This course provides a systematic introduction to the political system of the United States of America through the study of theory, principles, policy outcomes, and responsible institutions involved in the formation and operation of American National Government. The course will be organized along four broad fronts: (1) the political founding; (2) political parties and elections; (3) political institutions (e.g., president, Congress, etc.); and (4) policy (e.g., domestic and foreign). Students must earn a minimum grade of C to meet the requirements of the Gordon Rule. This is a writing credit course.
